Enter 4 for the offset from the center. The next prompt is for the rotation angle. For the top view of the hole, it really does not matter, so we’ll use a 0 degree rotation. But keep in mind that this does matter with other standard features. Now I am prompted to select the size of the fastener that this is going to be a clearance hole for, in this case, 16 mm. Select Finish and there is the hole. Now let’s create a Tapped Through hole. Place it down from the center of an existing hole by 2 units.

Let’s look at the holes we just inserted. Remember that I had the choice of inserting a Top view , which is what I did here, or a Front view. However, there is also a command on the Tools panel of the Content tab called Power View , which will allow you to then make the other view from the view that was used to create the hole.

From the ribbon, Content tab, Tools panel, click Power View , and the perpendicular Object Snap is enabled by default. And there, you can now see the front view, of the hole. To see this setting, click the Applications menu, then click Options. These features could also be treated like blocks and moved to another layer once they are placed. Blind holes are treated in a very similar manner to the Through holes. I will draw a rectangle to represent a block that is getting a Tapped Blind hole. Follow the prompts to indicate the starting point, the direction, and the size of the hole.

Then drag the size or type a distance, in this case, 1 unit. It is important to note that distance is the depth of the tapping. Now let’s place a Top view of a Tapped Blind hole. Specify an insertion point and a rotation angle, and now you’re prompted to indicate the depth of the tapping.
